Description

The original digital file had the following descriptive metadata embedded in its header: Description: University of Maryland research Bio-gas or methane reactors. These heavily insulated containers hold within a tubular rubber bag. Manure and other methane producing feed stock is introduced into the bag. Over the course of 20 days anaerobic bacteria produce methane as a byproduct of their consumption of the feedstock. In equatorial climates digesters can be build without need of insulation. In more northern climes reaction chambers must be insulated to keep temperatures warm enough for microbial activity. Outdoor air temperature on this day was 18 degrees fahrenheit and gas was being produced.
