Deutsch: Reste von Fresken im Inneren der Cormac's Chapel (Kapelle aus Sandstein), Rock of Cashel, Stadt Cashel (Caiseal Mumhan), County Tipperary, Irland.
Die Cormac's Chapel ist vermutlich die erste romanische Kirche in Irland und wurde 1127 gebaut. Sie ist vollständig erhalten. Zur Zeit wird sie renoviert da sie über die Jahre undicht wurde (der Sandstein ist durchlässig geworden). Zu dem Zweck ist sie gerade komplett eingepackt und wird getrocknet. Bei den Renovierungsarbeiten wurde der Putz im Inneren abgenommen (war verschimmelt) und dabei wurden die Reste von alten Fresken freigelegt. Vor allem Lapislazuli (blau) und Gold (gelb) sind erhalten geblieben und heute noch sichtbar. |
