Subtitle: hugging (killing) arms Pseudoscorpions (Pseudoscorpiones) are reminiscent in appearence of Scorpions, but the lack of venomous stinger separates them clear from Scorpions. Pseudoscorpions are not dangerous for human, but their strong, enormous pair of pedipalps are more hazardous for mites and a variety of other small arthropods. They occur at diverse habitats: soil, caves or bird nests even flats. The photo shows a specimen of Neobisium, which build despite the frightening appearance comfortable nest for his offspring by the spinning glands of pedipalps. The photograph was taken by the scanning electron microscope Hitachi S-4700 with 70 times magnification and has been colored in Adobe Photoshop.Magyar: A skorpiókra emlékeztető megjelenésű állatok az álskorpiók (Pseudoscorpiones), azonban a méregtövis hiánya egyértelműen elkülöníti őket tőlük. Emberre egyáltalán nem jelentenek veszélyt, azonban testükhöz képest hatalmas, erős tapogató ollóik és apró méregmirigyeik annál inkább veszélyesek különféle atkák, és más kistestű ízeltlábúak számára. Változatos élőhelyeken fordulnak elő - főleg talajban, de barlangokban, madárfészkekben, sőt emberi lakásokban is megtalálhatjuk őket. A képen látható Neobisium faj egyedei ijesztő külsejük ellenére kényelmes fészket készítenek utódaik számára csáprágójuk szövőmirigyével.
