| Description |
Humble station pilot, Y8120 is seen at Lille station on 10 March 1989. As with many of the larger national operators in Europe , SNCF was no exception in having a sizeable shunter fleet. 375 of these hydraulic shunters constructed between 1977 and 1990 were built for SNCF by Moyse and Fauvet Girel. Note the car-carrying wagons behind the shunter. At the time Train-Auto-Couchette (or Autotrain) services carrying cars attached on to overnight trains to the south of France. Some years later loading of cars took place at Seclin station and with the reduction in routes over the years this car terminal also closed. |
