Description10 years after 9-11, Marines, sailors honor victims, fallen brothers in Sangin 110825-M-VI905-194.jpg |
English: Sgt. Aaron D. Denning, the team chief of Advisor Team 2 attached to Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, shares a moment of laughter and cheering with an Afghan boy and Afghan soldier during an operation in Sareagar Village, Aug. 25. The two-day operation increased the International Security Assistance Force presence throughout the village and enabled the Marines to focus on interacting with the population. Denning, a Simi Valley, Calif., native and 2005 graduate of Royal High School is deployed to Sangin District, Afghanistan, on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. “There is a time and place for things and emotions. When you are outside the wire you have to be very careful about what emotions you let take control of you,” said Denning, who was wounded in action last month. |
