Description

From left: Secretary Shari Wilson, Maryland Department of the Environment, Bud Church and Linda Busick, Worcester County Commissioners, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Gee Williams, Mayor, Berlin, Maryland and Jack Tarburton, Maryland/Delaware Rural Development State Director announce Water and Environment Programs available to rural communities in front of the historic Atlantic Hotel in Berlin, Maryland, Monday, September 20. The town of Berlin, Maryland was able to build a new water treatment plant funded with monies available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA.) Secretary Vilsack toured water and soil conservation programs available through the Department of Agriculture. The conservation programs will aid rural communities, farmers and watermen on the Chesapeake Bay in their efforts to improve the water quality of the Chesapeake Bay.
