Description
English: 120131-N-ZZ999-002 ARABIAN GULF (Jan. 31, 2012) The Iranian fishing dhow M/V Sohaila awaits assistance from the guided-missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) after sending a distress call stating the dhow's engine was inoperable. Sailors assigned to John Paul Jones and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 11-3-1, both attached to the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group boarded the Sohaila to repair the engine and free the fouled propeller. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is comprised of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), Carrier Air Wing 2, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 9, the guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71), and the guided-missile destroyers USS Momsen (DDG 92) and USS Sterett (DDG 104), are conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
