| Description |
An employee of the Afghan National Army's Central Workshop works on a fuel pump tester in the enginre repair section of the maintenance facility Aug. 8, 2012. Several of the things that are automated in the Western world are still done by hand here with expert craftsmanship. The Central Workshop is the national depot level maintenance facility for the ANA employing both soldiers and civilians, to include a few female employees. It covers repair and fabrication of all the ANA equipment, with the majority of work occurring on vehicles, weapons, and communication equipment. Regional Support Command-East and the Deputy Command of Support Operations under NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan have logistics mentors and advisors working closely with the Afghan partners to improve the facility. NTM-A is a coalition of 38 troop contributing nations assisting the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in generating a capable and sustainable Afghan National Security Force ready to take the lead of their country's security by 2014.
