Summary edit

Description
English: Letter Carriers, now known as postmen, began the service of delivering mail in the different towns in Sydney 1828. During this time, postmasters were being appointed to townships and extra mail routes were being established. The Australian postal service officially began in 1809 under the guidance of former convict Isaac Nichols, who took charge of all colonial mail.
