(active in 1340s in Ile de France) Crucifixion 1340s Oak panel, 169 x 111cm Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Cologne This panel is known as the Wehrdener Crucifix since it was discovered in 1925 in Wehrden on the Weser in Germany. It is the work of an experienced French artist, probably a wandering painter, who seems to have learned the Italian technique of perspective as well as the courtly, elegant style flourishing in Normandy.
