U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (October 13, 2015) – Chief Fire Controlman Steven Dillenschneider, from Norfolk, and Sonar Technician (surface) Seaman Faythe Wells, from Norfolk, ceremoniously cut a cake as the oldest and youngest Sailors onboard during a celebration of the Navy's 240th birthday on the mess decks aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60). Normandy is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations as part of Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
