| Description |
Around 170 double deck EMUs now exist on the NS which was one of the ways to tackle increasing passenger numbers on an already busy network. Several variations exist, one example (closest to the camera) is the class 9500 which in addition to being equipped for the main NS network of 1500V dc, they are fitted to operate at 25kV AC for the newly built high speed line. Seen at Amsterdam CS on 16 October 2011, set no. 9541 (& 8624 in the background) are ready to depart on train IC843, 14:38 Amsterdam to Maastricht and Heerlen, the sets splitting at the penultimate stop, Sittard. |
