English: Detail of a map of Maastricht, Netherlands, of 1749 by French military engineer Jean-Baptiste Larcher d'Aubencourt (colours added by Kleon3). The map was used to build the Maquette of Maastricht (1752), now in the Musée de Beaux Arts in Lille, France. Here the central section of the city along the river Meuse is shown. Indicated in blue (between 1 and 2) is the Canal Liège-Maastricht, constructed between 1847 and 1850.
