Military intelligence is a military discipline that collects information and analysis to provide guidance and direction to commanders in support of their decisions. Military surveillance is the monitoring of behavior, activities, or other changing information that is of interest to national security. Military reconnaissance is exploring beyond the area occupied by friendly forces to gain vital information about natural features and enemy presence in a given area for later analysis and dissemination.
