Le armi deposte simboleggiano la fine delle ostilità tra la Spagna e gli Stati Uniti d’America a seguito del trattato di San Lorenzo stipulato il 27 ottobre 1795 in Spagna, ma anche la fine del vecchio ordine coloniale basato sulla violenza soppiantato dal nuovo ordine civile basato sul diritto dei popoli. |
