Top : Badge of the Coldstream Guards, erected in 1945 by Colonel Strathden, Commander of the Coldstream Guards.
Bottom : Bilingual (en/fr) Tablet dedicated to the Coldstream Guards – undated [possibly ca. 1980]. 

In Memory of the Officers and Men of the 2nd Battalion Coldsteam Guards who, while defending Hougoumont Farm, successfully held this South Gate from successive attacks throughout 18th June 1815

A la mémoire des Officiers et Soldats du 2ème Bataillon des Coldstream Guards qui ont participé à la défense de Hougoumont et ont résisté à toutes les attaques dirigées contre la porte sud le 18 juin 1815

Both Badge and Tablet were first erected on the wall of an extension built long after the Battle of Waterloo of 18 June 1815. That extension has been pulled down in preparation of the June 2015 commemorations, to return the farm to its state as at times of the battle – United Kingdom Treasury being the major contributor to the restorations.

Both Badge and Tablet are now erected on the newly built wall, at the same height and position as they were, and re-inaugurated by a 200-strong detachment of Coldstream Guards on June 17th, 2015. Overall view : ►(File:18_June_1815_–_Waterloo_–_Hougoumont._The_Southern_Gate.jpg).
