Description

1912 Royal Triumph Bicycle & 1885 Rudge Penny Farting in back

"This bicycle was made by the Triumph Company in Priory Street, Coventry and would have cost 9 when new.
It has a fixed back wheel. This means the back wheel and the pedals are always connected. You can not 'free wheel' on this bike because the pedals will always go round when the wheel goes round.
The shape of the handle bars show that his bicycle was made for racing on the road. They are much lower than the normal handle bars, so the rider of this bike is in a more streamlined position. This means the wind goes over the rider's body more easily, making it easier to go faster."
