Summary edit

Description
English: 1913 Ford Model T Runabout. (This example is a bit nonstandard, with a flat rear deck instead of the usual turtledeck.)

The Ford Motor Company was established in 1903, The Model T Ford was built from 1908-1927, a few models were built before the Model T, but the T was the first mass produced car. Ford wanted to keep the price low as possible, so to increase efficiency, he was the first to use assembly line production. Ford also made use of the knock-down kit concept, so almost from the beginning, the Model T was built in many other countries as well as the US, such as England and Australia.

The first car imported to Australia was the Model A in 1904, The Model T imported from 1909. From 1925, Fords were assembled in Geelong, Australia.

The Model T slowly developed over its production life;

1909-14 T1; Flat top hood, flat cowl below the screen and gas lights. Cars from 1913 to 14 had the dog leg windscreen

1915-16 T2; had louvres in hood, contoured cowl and electric lights..

1917-23 T3; The hood tapered with a curved top, hinges moved.

1923-25 T4; Angled Screen, taller and wider at firewall.

1926-27 T5; Wire wheels, cowl now similar to Model A.

Body styles available in 1909 were; 2 door tourer, 2 door sedan, 2 door coupe, the towncar and the no door roadster

Engine; 20hp 177 Cu in
