Summary edit

Description
English: View of Hamilton Street looking east down the Fourth Street Hill about 1920. This entire neighborhood was torn down beginning in the late 1930s.

On the south (right) side, the houses in the foreground would be raised to build the Main United States Post office. The Allentown Motor Inn would remove the homes further down the hill about 1960. The Lehigh Valley Railroad Passenger Station would be closed in 1972 with the demise of passenger train service by the LVRR. It would be torn down in 1972.

The houses on the north (left) side would be torn down about 1960 for the new Lehigh County Court House/City Hall Complex. The homes all the way east to the Jordan Creek would be raised as part of that project.
