Ho dispiacere dirle quanto segue. Oggi ho ricevuto la sentenza definitiva che Le accludo in originale riservandomi la copia. L’Ufficio Regio Belle Arti ha presentato un disegno della decorazione del presbiterio. Solo che veramente cozza colla decorazione della Chiesa da Lei progettato. Per cui siccome il presbiterio deve essere fatto tutto a figure anziché a decorazione perciò anche la Chiesa deve uniformarsi al presbiterio e quindi invece di semplici decorazioni deve essere ornata di figure. Tanto Le significo a spiegazione dell’intero decreto.

Il presbiterio è stato commesso al professor Donati, la chiesa definitivamente ancora a nessuno perché io non voglio manomissioni. Io voglio interpretare l’anima del popolo e quindi la conclusione è questa: gli ultimi di agosto si decora il presbiterio. E la Chiesa? Chissà quando e da chi.

Io per mostrarLe la mia disponibilità appena si cominciano i lavori e posso così far svincolare l’importo dalla Curia Le spedirò di mia spontanea e personale iniziativa l’importo di Lire 200 (duecento) come ricompensa per la premura che Lei s’è preso. D’altro canto capirà anche Lei che se il lavoro non fu approvato non è colpa mia. E’ da quando è venuta lei fino ad ora che lotto, combatto …. e soffro.

Per parte mia la conclusione è questa che: finché non cambia vento le iniziative private non vengono prese in considerazione. M abbia per scusato e creda che appena cominceranno i lavori io manterrò la promessa sopradetta. Con stima D. G. Battisti
