| Description |
English: 1931 UCC ‘Feltham’ Type Tram No.355 of Metropolitan Electric Tramways, later London Transport No.2099, in MET livery at the London Transport Acton Depot Museum, 25 September 2021. It was sold to Leeds Corporation in 1949 and was finally withdrawn in 1959.
The Union Construction and Finance Co. of Feltham built three prototypes in 1929-30 for MET. It was an advanced design for the time with many innovative features and highly streamlined body. 100 production examples followed in 1931: 54 for MET and 6 for London Electric Tramways, all 133 passing to LT in 1933. Most lasted until the end of tramways in London in 1950-52. 90 were then sold to Leeds Corporation and one to Sunderland Corporation where they saw a few more years’ service until 1959 and 1954 respectively. |
