English: Crowds of curious spectators at one of the first United Airlines flights at the Allentown Airport. Scheduled airline service was inaugurated by United Airlines on September 16, 1935, with a Boeing 247 airplane. The first hangar served as the passenger terminal from 1929 to 1938, when the airport became the Allentown-Bethlehem Airport. At that time offices and a new passenger terminal were added on the side visible in the above photo. |
