Description

Studebaker built wagons in the 1800s, electric automobiles starting in 1902 and gasoline vehicles from 1904 to 1966. The Commander 8 was dropped in 1936, leaving the base model Standard Dictator 6, mid was the Deluxe Dictator 6 and top was the President 8. The Dictator was dropped and Commander back for 1938; base model now was the Commander 6, mid spec State Commander 6, top was still the President 8 Changed again for 1939; base, the new Champion 6, mid, Commander 6 and top, the President 8 The 1938 7A Commander was smooth and stylish, with divided windshield, cigar lighter and clock. It was available in 2 door Business Coupe, Club Coupe, 4 door Cruiser Sedan and Convertible Sedan. Engine; 90hp 226 cu in 6 cyl The mid spec 8A State Commander got President-style headlamps, deluxe steering wheel and twin horns, available in 2 door Custom Coupe, 4 door Cruiser Sedan and Convertible Sedan. Engine; 90hp 226 cu in 6 cyl
