Description

When I saw this 62-year-old Ford in mint condition at the ORSR show in Wheelersburg, Ohio it brought memory of my first new car purchase. My car was red, came with overdive and AM radio, cost just over $2,000.

My first ride in a 1949 Ford was during August 1948 in Manchester, Iowa where I was staying overnight in a hotel. The local Ford dealer was giving free rides along the gravel roads of Delaware County. Interest was high when Ford made this major change. Early models had problems, but the quality of the one I bought in the summer of 1949 was much improved.
