Description

1988 Ford Tempo Engine - 98hp OHV 2.3L four cylinder. Rather dirty.

It is a OHV motor that evolved from the 60s Falcon inline six. The story goes it was made for extra torque and to be used with a 3spd automatic - the Tempo is actually a stretched Escort platform and the motor was initially going to be the 1.6 from Escort but the extra weight forced the change. The engine certainly isn't a revver. The Taurus used a 2.5L four that was a version of this motor too but nothing else used it.
