Description Major General Thomas Csrnko (right) Commander of Army Special Forces Command, helps place a wreath representing the modern Special Forces at the First Special Services Force monument in Helena, Mt. during a memorial service in honor of their 60th reunion on Aug. 18th, 2006. The First Special Services Force formed at Ft Harrison, Mt. in July of 1942 as a joint force of American and Canadian Soldiers trained to be an elite strike force and was the precursor to today's Special Forces.
