Summary edit

Description

A Y class 2-4-0 designed by R. Sinclair and built between 1859 and 1866. 110 were built for goods traffic but they were used for passenger trains right from the outset. Most engines were reboilered from 1871 onwards, with 20 being rebuilt as 4-4-0s. The engines were withdrawn between 1883 1894.

This photo was taken from an old original photo we came across while helping to clear the house of a deceased friend. I have uploaded it to Flickr in the hope that it might be interesting to steam enthusiasts.
