Description

Accession:2003-28-14 Desk, Writing Wood, Brass, Felt

The desk belonged to Rear Admiral John A. Dahlgren. He was a "naval ordnance innovator and commander of the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron during the Civil War, as well as Commander of the Washington Navy Yard." The desk was recently conserved as part of an ongoing project to preserve some of the more fragile and historically significant artifacts in the collection. www.history.navy.mil/bios/dahlgren.htm
