Buchwaldoboletus pseudolignicola (Petch) Both & B. Ortiz Image location: Eagle Point Nature Preserve, Salisbury, North Carolina, USA Growing from a fallen pine, possibly Pinus taeda. Smelled like a peach! A very nice, sweet smell. Recognized by sight: pores blue, stipe orange at base, on pine. newly separated out (comb. nov.) from B. sphaerocephalus by Both and Ortiz. Used references: “A Preliminary Survey of the Genus Buchwaldoboletus,” Beatriz Ortiz-Santana and Ernst Both. Bulletin of the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences, Vol. 40, 2011.
