| Description |
Psathyrella candolleana (Fr.) Maire Image location: Cameron Park, El Dorado Co., California, USA Growing on rocky ground near path, probably on buried woody debris. Spore print purplish brown and spores ~ 7.0-9.0 X 3.5-5.0 microns, smooth with a germ pore, which was not prominent. Abundant Cheilocystia, mostly narrowly utriform in the range of 35-50 X 10-13 microns. Did Not see Pleurocystidia. The safest ID here would be Psathyrella condolleana. However, the cap discs on these were more reddish than usual(and retained that color) so I’m donning a splitters cap for this one time without a lot of conviction. Recognized by sight Cheilocystidia @ 1000X.
