Description
English: Marine veteran Mike Stafford, native of Hollidaysburg, PA., smiles at his instructor during practice for the 2013 Marine Corps Trials at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 27, 2013. Stafford suffered head injuries during training that cause a traumatic brain injury and also suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. “I came to the trials to boost my confidence, support the Marines and represent my fellow Marines in my hometown,” Stafford said. “I want other wounded warriors to know there is still hope, they can do anything if they put their mind to it and don’t let other people tear you down.” The Trials is an opportunity for wounded Marines, veterans and allies to compete in wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, track and field, swimming, archery and shooting. The top 50 athletes will go on to compete against wounded warriors from the other branches of military service at the Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., in May.
