Description Nascent pollen cones of Cupressus goveniana (Gowen Cypress). Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 1B.2 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere). Listed by the Federal Government as Threatened. It is also on the IUCN Red List of endangered species. There are two to four population (depending on who is counting) on the Monterey Peninsula surrounded by expensive homes. The plant photographed is at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Parks near Berkeley, CA.
