Français : Le juriste nîmois Jacques Bonaud de Sauzet n'a pas laissé beaucoup de traces facilement identifiables de sa vie et de sa famille. De sa formation et de sa carrière, on sait en fait fort peu de choses. Il est surtout connu pour avoir réalisé en 1526 la première édition imprimée des Tractatus contra rebelles suorum de Jean de Terrevermeille, une œuvre éminemment politique à laquelle Jacques Bonaud prend soin d'y ajouter une glose, puis un Panegyricus en dernière partie. Bonaud fait une présentation chaleureuse de son illustre prédécesseur, il est vrai qu'il pourrait presque s'identifier à Terrevermeille : comme lui, il a obtenu ses grades à l'université des droits de Montpellier, comme lui, il s'installe à Nîmes une fois ses études terminées et y exerce la profession d'avocat et de conseiller en la cour du sénéchal, comme lui c'est un partisan d'un pouvoir royal fort.
English: The jurist from Nîmes, Jacques Bonaud de Sauzet, has left no identifiable clues about his life and family. We actually know very little about his education and his career. He is best known for having published in 1526 the first printed edition of Joannes de Terra Rubea, Tractatus contra rebelles suorum ; an eminently political work to which, in the last part, Jacques Bonaud has carefully added a gloss and a Panegyricus. Bonaud made a warmth presentation of his illustrious predecessor, it is true that he could almost identify himself with Terra Rubea, like him, he was a law-graduated from Montpellier University. Once he completed his studies, he settled in Nîmes and became a lawyer at the court of the seneschal, like him he was a fervent supporter of Royalty. |
