Bryan, Senator Pat Roberts, R-KS, Congressman Roger Marshall, R-KS and Kansas State University Vice President for Research Peter Dorhout sign a Memorandum of Agreement that will establish responsibilities for the transfer of ownership and operations of the $1.25-billion National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) from DHS' Science and Technology Directorate to USDA, on Thursday, June 20, 2019, in Washington, D.C. The National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF), in Manhattan, KS, will be the premier center of scientific excellence for the study of transboundary, emerging, and zoonotic animal diseases ( Those transmitted between animals and human s) that threaten U.S. agriculture economy, food supply, and public health. This state-of-the-art facility will be a national asset that helps protect our nation's agriculture and its citizens against the threat and potential impact of serious animal diseases.
