Summary edit

Description
English: When the South Devon Railway opened 175 years ago, the section south of Dawlish station was almost at beach level but had a subway to give access to the Boat Cove but was replaced by a footbridge in 1879. A footpath was added alongside the railway in 1902 but this retained the "kink" where the subway used to be. When the sea wall was raised in 2020 the same "kink" was built into the new wall.
