Description 208-PU-173-F-31: President Roosevelt Meets Middle East Sovereigns. Personal bodyguards of King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia stand stiffly at attention on board USS Quincy (CA 71) while King Ibn Saud and President Franklin D. Roosevelt confer after the Crimea Conference at Yalta. The Saudi Arabian guards wear gaily printed Galabeyas and “Crusader” jackets. Their equipment comprises of long Arab swords, rifles, automatic submachine guns and field glasses. The meeting between King Ibn Saud and President Roosevelt took place on Great Bitter Lake through which runs the Suez Canal, February 1945.U.S. Army Signal Corps Photograph.
