Description edit
Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device, 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a green isosceles triangle surmounted by a stylized sunburst rising from a blue demi-sphere with gold gridlines, positioned on top of the demi-sphere and in the center of the sunburst, a gold covered wagon. Attached below the device a red scroll inscribed "VERE FORTITUDO EXPEDITONE" in gold.
Symbolism
Scarlet is the color traditionally used by the Support units. The green triangle represents the three original battalions assigned to the 209th Regional Support Group's command and control (243d Supply and Services, 325th Quartermaster and 484th Transportation). The demi-sphere denotes the Group's worldwide support mission. The sunburst signifies the 209th being a brand new unit; suggesting the Group's logistical power to support the fight across the world. The covered wagon symbolizes "the gateway to the western expansion of the United States, also highlighting the unit's location near Kansas City, Missouri and the soldiers coming from the four states (Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa). The motto translates to "True Power of the Military."
Background
The distinctive unit insignia was authorized on 17 February 2006, with an effective date of 16 September 2006.
