ACCESSION# :23-1-A Object Title:Model, Ship Dimensions: 17" L, 20.5"H, 4.25 "D. Silver, Wood

The US Navy provided medical assistance and supplies to Japan on September 5th 1923 after the earthquake of September 1st . The earthquake measured 8.3 and was known as the Great Kanto earthquake.

In appreciation of the Navy's assistance the International Banking Corporation presented the ship model to Admiral Thomas Washington. He was Commanding Officer of the Asiatic Fleet at that time.
