Description
English: Sheet copper alloy vessel fitting, length 75mm, width 40mm, height 13mm, thickness of metal >1mm, weight 21.6g. The artefact is made from a sheet of copper alloy, it is sub-triangular in plan with a concave ridge running down the centre. The side edges are flat and would have been riveted onto the base of a vessel, although more than 50% is missing there are rivet holes visible, some retaining a copper alloy rivet. The artefacts is in a poor condition, suffering heavily from corrosion, it has broken in to three pieces.

These would and are fitted on to the back of tool such as a ladle or strainer to act as a socket to fit a wooden handle. This dates to the Medieval Period.
