| Description |
English: Entry into Poland via Świnoujście Centrum which was opened up in 2008 and is now the teerminus of the Usedomer Bäderbahn network. Seen here is unit 646.111 ready to work train UBB29432, 18:00 Świnoujście Centrum to Stralsund Hbf.
The station of Świnoujście Centrum lies at the north end of the town. Back when this was still Germany territory the line from here originally continued further on with the main station close to the town centre before taking the route back via Golm. In 1945, the border was re-drawn and the town became part of Poland. In order to reach the main part of the PKP network if coming in by train from the German side allow at least an hour for the transfer. Firstly a walk of around 25 minutes to the river ferry. Ferries run across to Warszów on the opposite side every 20 minutes. Taking 5 to 10 minutes the ferry is free of charge for foot passengers, cyclists and cars with local registration plates. The ferry terminal in Warszów is directly opposite Świnoujście PKP station. |
