Description/Blazon
- Shield: Per fess Azure and ermine in chief a battle-axe.
- Motto: PRIMUM FRANGERE (First To Cleave).
Symbolism
- Shield: The colors blue and white are the colors for Infantry. The per fess partition line and the ermine, taken from the corporate arms of Cologne, symbolize the Rhineland campaign. The battle-axe represents the Central Europe campaign.
Background
The coat of arms was approved on 15 December 1954.
