Description
English: On the left, built in the late 19th Century, this Italianate-style building features a red brick facade with a bracketed cornice featuring modillions and dentils, stone lintels and sills, pilasters between the window bays with recessed brick panels and brick corbeling above the windows, a first floor retail shopfront with a decorative surrounding including a fluted doric column at the corner and a cornice with brackets and modillions, which contains modern storefronts, and a large mural of a trolley on the side of the building.

In the center, built around the turn of the 20th Century, this Renaissance Revival-style building features an orange brick facade, divided into five bays by pilasters with brick corbeling above the third floor windows, stone window headers, a heavily bracketed cornice, one-over-one windows, three oxeye windows above the three central third floor windows below the raised section of the parapet, two first floor replacement storefronts flanking a central entryway with an aluminum replacement storefront and decorative stone surround featuring doric columns, a cornice with dentils, and an architrave with triglyphs and decorative trim, on which lettering spelling out “The Works” is mounted, with the building featuring a rear elevator addition and a low-slope rear shed roof surrounded by a parapet.

On the right, built around the turn of the 20th Century, this Romanesque Revival and Italianate-style building features a red brick facade, bracketed cornice, low slope rear shed roof with a parapet, brick pilasters between the window bays, arched window bays not he third floor, and a first floor retail shopfront with a cornice above and replacement storefronts.

The buildings sit just outside the boundaries of the Newark Downtown Historic District, but presently house offices for various organizations and companies, as well as an art gallery and shop.
