Summary edit

Description 330-PS-2273 (USN 708389): Barber Shop Lather Dispenser Solves Polishing Problem. Mr. Stewart I. Slawson, Naval Research Laboratory Scientist, demonstrates the use of the familiar barber shop lather dispenser in polishing soft crystals of the type used to transmit invisible light rays and heat. Extensive tests disclosed that the lather floats away metal powders used in grinding and polishes and adds a polishing effect of its own. Liquid soap and the lather of the type mixed in shaving mug will not do the same work, according to the scientists. Photograph released October 17, 1951. (5/26/2015).
