Description 330-PS-2727: Heads of Women’s Services Honored. A luncheon was held in the Cabinet Room at the Willard Hotel honoring heads of the Women’s Services. Among those present (left to right) were Colonel Katherine A. Towle, Director of the Women Marines; Mrs. Ella C. Werner, National Treasurer of the Soroptimist Club; Lieutenant Colonel Mary L. Milligan, USA, Deputy Director, Women’s Army Corps (WAC); Mrs. Agres C. Turner, President, Washington Soroptimist Club; Captain Joy B. Hancock, USN, Assistant Chief for Women (WAVES); Miss Mary Bourne, Regional Director of South Atlantic Region, Soroptimist Club; and Colonel Mary J. Shelly, USAF, Director, Women in the Air Force (WAF). Soroptimist Clubs are international classified service clubs for professional and executive business women. They offer the same opportunities for service and wider personal and business contacts that are afforded men by rotary and other similar service clubs. Photograph released May 7, 1952. (5/19/2015).
