Description 330-PS-3111 (USN 708775): Aboard USS Repose (AH-16) in Korean Waters. U.S. Navy Corpsman wait with stretcher as landing-signal officer guides aboard an HO5S Marine Helicopter with wounded from the front of Korea. The Danish hospital ship “Jutlandia” stands at anchor in the background. A year ago, 21 December 1951, the first helicopter landed on board USS Consolation (AH-15). The faster method of hauling critically wounded troops direct to hospital ship was recognized by Vice Admiral Joel T. Boone, MC, USN, (and Medal of Honor recipient), in the Fall of 1950.
