Description 330-PS-6215 (USN 709023): Selecting interesting souvenirs of moderate price is one of the privileges of world travelers. HM2 Eileen Paluzzi tries on a hand-made beach hat, which she decided not to buy. HM3 Maria Myers bought some postcards to send to the folks back home. Photograph released October 26, 1953. Master Caption: Navy Accepts Women Volunteers for Duty on the High Seas. For the first time in history, the U.S. Navy has accepted volunteers for duty on the high seas from women in the enlisted WAVES. Those eligible were WAVES of the Hospital Corps to fill sixty-three billets on ships of the Military Sea Transportation Service. (4/21/2015).
