Summary edit

Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Decatur (DD-936) following her collision with the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain (CVS-39) on 6 May 1964. Note how Decatur's superstructure has been crushed by being trapped under the carrier's overhang. The two ships collided while Decatur was clearing the carrier after underway refueling operations. Decatur proceeded under her own power to Norfolk Naval Base, Virginia (USA), accompanied by USS Gearing (DD-710). No personnel were injured during the collision.
