Description 330-PSA-159-64 (USN 1103849): Seabee Technical Assistance Team (STAT). During early 1964, a Navy STAT responded to a request from Costa Rica for emergency flood control assistance. Thirty-three Seabees and 371 tones of equipment were airlifted from Gulfport, Mississippi, to assist the endangered island. STAT Teams can be flown to any part of the world to assist and train United States Allies. Teams are currently deployed to Thailand, under aid sponsorship; Vietnam, under NAP and aid sponsorship; Chile, under NAP sponsorship; Upper Volta, under aid sponsorship; and Costa Rica, under aid sponsorship.
