Summary edit

Description
English: 330-PS-7833 (USN 709597): USS Carronade (IFS-1) fires a salvo of rockets during a recent amphibious training operation off the coast of Kauai, Hawaii. The Carronade, a new type of navy ship, was designed to replace the LSMR (Medium Landing Ship, Rocket), which was employed during World War II to give close-in fire support to troops ashore. The latest improvements in shipboard habitability have been incorporated in the design of the vessel. Photograph released May 4, 1956. (2/11/2015).
