Summary edit

Description
English: 360 degrees of sea. Previous: 567599 Next: 567605

The rock in the near distance is called The Bow.

This body of water is called St Mary's Sound. The deepest channel into the islands from the East. The Scillonian III ferry from Penzance takes this route at low tide, but the shorter route via St Martin's Sound to the North when the tide is high enough.

There is a warning buoy in the centre of the channel marking of the presence of the Spanish Ledges (visible only at a low spring tide). It's a sign of how peaceful the islands are that on a Easterly wind the bell on this buoy can be clearly heard on the St Agnes camp-site approximately 2 miles away.
